Ways to extend the benefits of your massage.
You've probably heard us say to take it easy and stay well hydrated after a massage but there are plenty of other ways to extend the multiple calming benefits that massage brings.
1. Schedule smartly: Try to plan for an easy rest of your day and night after a massage. While a lunch time session sounds great, encountering work stress right after can quickly erase all those stress relieving benefits.
2. Skip the heavy strenuous workouts after a massage and opt for yoga or light stretching instead. It is aid that massage is similar to a full body workout to the muscles. There might be an adjustment period before you body fully knows where it is in space (usually within 24 hours). Your muscles might also injure easier since they're either relaxed or in recovery mode.
3. Turn down the volume. Avoid loud music, stressful social media and the evening news. Enjoy quiet calm for as long as possible--even if that means putting your phone away for a couple hours.
4.Take a warm bath. Bonus points if you add in magnesium oil and calming essential oils such as lavender or chamomile.
5. Eat something warm and nourishing. If your massage leaves you feeling a bit light and spacey, enjoying a warm comforting meal can help you feel more grounded again.
6.Bring comfy clothes to change into after your massage. If you are coming right after work, maybe you want to bring comfy lounge wear to change into after instead of putting work clothes back on.
7.Observe what emotions come up without judgement. Writing these feelings down in a journal can help free your mind of overwhelming or persistent thoughts.
8. Keep it going! Schedule your next massage and put it in your calendar. We always say it's easier to cancel an appointment then to create one. Just please respect our 24-hour cancelation policy. We have membership and package options to give you extra perks while saving you some money.
