What does the massage therapist do with the hot stones?
During a Hot Stone Massage, stones heated to 120-140 degrees are used as an extension of the massage therapists hands to create a one-of-a-kind massage. Additionally, stones are placed on the body (with a barrier) to allow the heat to penetrate deep into the muscles before massage is applied to that area.
Why Hot Stone Massage?
Using heated stones is beneficial because it helps to soften the muscle tissue, allowing for deeper relief without using deeper pressure.
Because the stones are heated, it is very important to communicate with your massage therapist if the temperature is uncomfortable.
